ASTRAPAN –IV contains Sterile Pantoprazole Sodium is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. This medication relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and cough. It helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Pantoprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).The injection form of this drug is used for a short time when you cannot take the medication by mouth. When possible, your doctor should switch you to the form that is taken by mouth.
Usages of Sterile Pantoprazole Sodium
Pantoprazole injection comes as a powder to be mixed with liquid and given intravenously (into a vein) by a doctor or nurse in a medical facility. For the treatment of GERD, pantoprazole injection is usually given once a day for 7 to 10 days. For the treatment of conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, pantoprazole injection is usually given every 8 to 12 hours.
